Dr. Laura Di Meglio | Ophthalmology

>>Hi, my name is Laura Di Meglio and I’m an instructor of ophthalmology at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. I’m one of the optometrists in the Comprehensive Eye Care Department. I’m originally from Toronto, Canada and went to optometry school
in Boston, Massachusetts. After completing my degree in optometry I went on to do a year of residency in cornea anterior segment
disease and contact lenses. As a comprehensive eye care provider I provide routine eye examines
for people five and up. I do diabetic eye examines. I co-manage glaucoma, and I do pre and post op cataract and refractive surgery patients. I specialize in contact
lenses from soft lenses that include toric and
multi-focal contact lenses. I also do rigid gas permeable
and scleral contact lenses. My special interests is
scleral contact lenses. These are large diameter
hard contact lenses that are not only good for
people with soft contact lenses but have become a comfortable alternative for patients with keratoconus,
cornea transplants, and people that have
ocular surface disease such as dry eye syndrome. I treat each patient as an individual making sure that I provide them with the amount of time required to give them the best standard of care. I am extremely proud and honored to be part of the Johns Hopkins
Wilmer Eye Institute team and I look forward to meeting you. (soft music)
